Stamped Concrete

Stamped concrete is one of the most popular ways to achieve the look of premium natural materials — stone, brick, slate, flagstone, or even wood — at a fraction of the cost. D&D Concrete & Construction brings expert stamped concrete installation to homes and businesses across the Rapid City area and Black Hills region. Our stamped concrete process begins with a standard concrete pour using air-entrained mixes, followed by applying color hardener and release agents, then pressing detailed patterns into the surface before it sets. The result is a durable, low-maintenance surface that looks like it was built with individual pavers or natural stone. Stamped concrete is ideal for patios, driveways, walkways, and entryways. We offer dozens of pattern options and a wide range of colors that can be customized to complement your home's architecture and the natural beauty of the Black Hills. Unlike pavers, stamped concrete doesn't shift, settle unevenly, or allow weed growth between joints. It's a one-piece surface that's easy to maintain and — when properly installed with the right mix and sealer — built to withstand South Dakota's freeze-thaw cycles.

Stamped Concrete FAQ

How long does stamped concrete last in South Dakota?

Properly installed and sealed stamped concrete can last 25+ years, even in our climate. The key is using the right concrete mix, proper installation, and resealing every 2–3 years to protect the surface from freeze-thaw damage and UV fading.

Is stamped concrete slippery in winter?

We add a non-slip additive to the sealer, and the texture of the stamp pattern provides natural grip. For areas prone to ice, we recommend textured patterns over smooth finishes.

Can stamped concrete crack?

Like all concrete, stamped concrete can develop hairline cracks over time, especially in climates with freeze-thaw cycles. Proper installation with air-entrained concrete, control joints, and reinforcement minimizes this risk significantly.
